Iran Claims Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, Amid Regional Counterattacks.

Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed operations across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is not yet known and the United States has remained silent.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have intercepted missiles in their airspace.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on sites associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the government.

Additional Developments

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.

Officials reported wreckage landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
