We start with questions from Conservative MP the committee chair, that oversees the committee.

She opens by giving background to the disclosed memo written by Michael Prescott and published in a daily publication.

"I don't want the British Broadcasting Corporation tilting in any particular direction, I just want it straight, unbiased and equitable," he declares.

In response to a query if he believes the British Broadcasting Corporation is systematically partial, Prescott answers: "No, I do not. It is important to note, numerous aspects the British Broadcasting Corporation produces is exceptional - both factual and non-factual programming."

But he adds: "There exists significant effort that must be undertaken at the BBC."

The second former external British Broadcasting Corporation adviser examined by the panel, Caroline Daniel, says she takes the British Broadcasting Corporation extremely earnestly and that it maintains a "continuous process and active debate" regarding dynamic and complex topics.

"Did the BBC prepared to engage in a thorough discussion and exchange and act accordingly?" she reflects. "As I see it, affirmative, they were."
