Slot Insists He Is Safe and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it's natural for doubts to be asked about his future following another heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in 12 matches, marking the club's worst run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received significant backing from above,” the coach stated.

“It's important to reverse this trend and get a victory of course but when you're coaching a team and not doing well then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He added, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to elaborate on his discussions with the team officials, the head coach explained:

“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me constantly each day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “In the normal exchanges I feel the confidence. But I've not talked to them after this game yet so let’s see.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Reaction

The manager highlighted recurring weaknesses from his squad in their European loss, specifically missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” Jones stated.

“It is not good enough. I don't need to wait to think about it. I’m past being angry inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He added, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a period of this nature with results this poor.”

He finished, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And until it is removed, we will always battle.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and why it's known as the best team in the planet.”

“But right now, things are bad and it needs to change.”
